[Far North] [Interior] [South Central] [Southeast] [Southwest]
With the Alaska road system you can visit 4 out of the 5 regions in Alaska, the Far North, the Interior, South Central and the Southeast. The Southwest region can only be visited by taking the Alaska Ferry System or by plane. The Southeast region can be reached by the road system only in Haines or Skagway and the rest are reachable again by using the Alaska Ferry System. In the Far North only one road connects to Prudhoe Bay and the Arctic Ocean, the Dalton Highway, but be prepared if you decide to venture this far north. Most folks will park their RV in Fairbanks and take a weekend trip using their tow vehicle to visit above the Arctic Circle.
