We give a comprehensive review of the Copper River Campground just outside Chitina, Alaska which provides a free parking solution near Wrangell St Elias National Park when visiting McCarthy- Kennicott. The campground is free and is popular with the locals who come here to fish the famous Copper River for reds and king salmon. Just know this is a local fishing spot only, out of state residents are not allowed to fish in this area. We stayed here a total of 4 nights while visiting the National Park and was as far as we were comfortable to take the motorhome on the Edgerton Highway.
